Learning Java

I’m currently working through Stanford University’s course, Programming Methodology, which teaches the basics of the Java programming language. You can download it from iTunesU or watch it on their YouTube Channel. So far, I’ve made it to Lecture 10 and have almost completed the second assignment.

The great thing about this particular course is that Stanford has made all the handouts and assignments available to follow along and the software used is open source. I even found an early draft of the textbook online. The third assignment is to write a program for the classic Atari arcade game “Breakout” where you hit bricks with a bouncing ball. Stay tuned to see if I’m able to do it!
